The 12-week project to refurbish the 1930s Art Deco diving board at Coate Water is well under way.
Swindon Borough Council says its plan for the iconic structure, which was last used by the public in the 1950s, includes repainting the diving board and replacing the flagpole.
The necessary framework for the project is in place, and a council spokesperson said: "A full environmental clean will take place and the crude and unsightly block-work walls to the lower level will be removed.
"Minor repairs will also be made to the concrete structure where needed, while new handrails will be added and security grilles will be installed to prevent access to the upper levels."
