Wiltshire Police have renewed their appeal for witnesses following a fatal collision on the M4 involving two vehicles late last night - 22 June.
At around 11.30pm, two cars collided on the motorway between junctions 16 and 17.
A force spokesperson said: "There were seven people travelling in the 7-seater Toyota Corolla, including a woman in her 40s who sadly died at the scene. Her next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.
"A woman in her 50s sustained serious injuries, not thought to be life threatening. The other five occupants were treated for minor injuries.
"The three occupants of the second vehicle, a VW Tiguan, were taken to hospital as a precaution.
"The Serious Collision Team are at the scene carrying out an investigation into what happened, and the motorway is likely to be closed westbound for most of the day. We appreciate this will cause disruption for a large number of people and thank you for your patience."
Part of the investigation includes acting on reports that a white vehicle may have been involved and left the scene.
Any witnesses to the collision or anyone who may have dashcam footage are asked to contact the serious collision investigation team on 01225 694597, quoting log number 399.
Alternatively, they can contact the team directly by emailing [email protected].
