Swindon Borough Council and the NHS are urging people to protect themselves and their loved ones this winter by booking a flu vaccination.

The NHS is opening appointments for eligible groups.
A council spokesperson said: "The flu vaccine helps protect against influenza (flu), a highly infectious virus that circulates every year, particularly during the winter months.
"Unlike a common cold, flu symptoms come on quickly and can include fever, chills, headaches, aching muscles and joints, and extreme tiredness.
"While most healthy people recover within a week, flu can lead to serious complications, hospitalisation and, in some cases, death.
"The NHS booking system is now open for pregnant women, children aged two and three, and children aged six months to 17 years who are in a clinical risk group.
"People aged 65 and over, carers, and those with certain long-term health conditions can also book now for appointments."
Flu vaccines help protect against the main types of flu virus expected to circulate this Winter and are one of the most effective ways to reduce the risk of serious illness.
Eligible residents can book their vaccination through the NHS App, online or by calling 119.
