Swindon Borough Council has issued a reminder that food banks work with referral agencies to issue food vouchers in times of crisis.
Frontline professionals such as Citizens Advice Swindon, doctors, health visitors and social workers are able to refer someone to a food bank and give them a food bank voucher if they think they need emergency food.
People can obtain help from Citizens Advice Swindon in person, and are invited to check www.citizensadviceswindon.org.uk for opening times or call 0808 278 7813.
