A crucial Swindon nature project is offering a warm welcome to volunteers.

Looking after Swindon’s wildlife and natural habitats is at the heart of the Swindon Forest Meadows partnership project between Wiltshire Wildlife Trust (WWT) and Swindon Borough Council.

It aims to create, restore, enhance and better manage grassland areas covering approximately 170 hectares focused on 12 sites.

Running since 2020, the project covers locations across the Borough including Seven Fields, Highworth and the wildlife trust reserves at Raybrook Meadow, Mouldon Hill, Shaw Forest, Westcott Community Forest and South Marston Recreation Ground

With the help of hundreds of volunteers, the project's achievements include:

- Supporting community projects throughout Swindon, including, Shaftesbury Lakes, Raybrook Meadow, The Prinnels, Foundation Park and Penhill Haven.

- Introducing bat boxes to Lydiard and Stanton Park

- Restoring a community garden on Manor Road
