An invitation for people to consider becoming fosterers has been issued.
Swindon Borough Council says more than 300 local babies, children and teenagers are currently in its care.
Of these, however, around 100 children are moved away from Swindon because the council simply doesn’t have enough foster carers.
The young people affected are living miles away from their friends, families and schools.
Zoe is a 14-year-old who is in the council’s care, but has been placed in a residential setting.
She said: “For me, I feel I’m ready to live with a foster family, as I miss being in a family.
“I miss doing stuff together and being able to curl up in my own bed with a good book or just listening to some music.”
A council spokesperson said in a message to potential foster carers: "If you feel you have the qualities to provide a loving home for children or teenagers like Zoe contact the fostering team at: [email protected] or 07917503447."
