A Swindon man has been sentenced to 21 years in prison for sexual offences including raping a child.

Alexander Franczyk, 58, of Pritchard Close, Kingsdown, was sentenced at the Old Bailey.

He was found guilty by trial in August for multiple incidents of rape, one incident of attempted rape, multiple assaults by penetration and multiple sexual assaults.

Franczyk has already pleaded guilty to possessing indecent images of children.

He will have an extended sentence of five years once released, be added to the Sex Offenders Register indefinitely and barred from ever working with children.

The incidents took place between July 2016 and May 2023 and involved two young victims aged 13 and under.

Det Con Sarah Pollock from the Child Abuse Investigation Team said: "I'd like to commend these two young girls who showed incredible bravery at coming forward to report these crimes after suffering several years of abuse.

“This has been a deeply upsetting case and I hope they can now start to rebuild their lives, safe in the knowledge that Franczyk will now face a significant custodial sentence.”

The police ask victims to report rape or sexual assault as soon as possible.

A spokesperson said: "Even if you’re not 100 per cent sure, Wiltshire Police would sooner hear from you so that we can make sure you’re safe.

"If you’re not ready to talk to the police just yet, that’s OK. Here you can find a range of places to get support, advice and medical help.

"You can speak to these organisations in confidence and what you tell them won't be shared with the police unless you ask for it to be."
