Swindon & Gloucestershire Mind (S&G Mind), in partnership with Swindon Borough Council and Business West, is holding a series of free networking events throughout 2025 focused on mental health in the workplace.

Open to mindful employers in Swindon and the surrounding area, these events will spark vital discussions on employee wellbeing and create healthier, more supportive work environments.

Recent research suggests that almost a quarter of adults felt unable to manage their daily stress levels. This was true for one-in-five workers who had to take mental health leave from work.  Businesses need support with expert advice and guidance to empower them in supporting the mental well-being of their staff.

As part of the Swindon Mindful Employer Network series, the first event will take place on Tuesday 1 April 2025, at 9.30am at the Cultural Heritage Institute on London Street, Swindon. The session will focus on stress awareness and workplace wellbeing, aligning with Stress Awareness Month in April and leading into Mental Health Awareness Week in May.

Attendees will gain valuable insights, hear real-world experiences, and engage in meaningful conversations designed to help businesses better support their teams and improve productivity. Each session will focus on critical aspects of mental health and employee well-being and provide the opportunity to network with like-minded professionals. Whether a small business owner or a managerial role in a larger organisation, the series will help foster an understanding, supportive and productive workplace.

Yazmin Taylor, Service Lead for Business and Training at S&G Mind, said: “We are thrilled to kick off this series with such a timely focus on workplace wellbeing, tackling stress, and prioritising mental health.

“Staff are all organisation’s most valuable asset, and providing the right support and advice on key mental health issues is crucial. Our speakers will share valuable knowledge and experiences, showing how addressing these issues can truly benefit businesses.

“We believe attendees will take away practical strategies to improve employee wellbeing. We’re delighted to be collaborating with Swindon Borough Council and Business West on this important initiative for our local community.”

Councillor Jim Robbins, Leader of Swindon Borough Council said: “Supporting mental health in the workplace is not just the right thing to do, it’s essential for the wellbeing of our workforce and the success of local businesses. Employers who prioritise mental health create more resilient, engaged teams and a stronger healthier economy.

“We’re pleased to be supporting these free workshops for local employers, helping them develop meaningful strategies to support their staff and promote workplace cultures. As we work to build a fairer Swindon, I encourage all employers in Swindon to take advantage of this opportunity to be part of the conversation on workplace wellbeing’’

Susie Parker, Head of Marketing (Membership & Web), Business West said: “Workplace wellbeing is more than a priority – it's a necessity. Supporting mental health and tackling stress not only strengthens individuals but also contributes to business success.

“We’re proud to join forces with Swindon Borough Council and S&G Mind to champion employee wellbeing, and to support a thriving workforce in the region"
