The road markings at Greenbridge roundabout are set to be refreshed as work to improve Swindon’s roads continues.
Alongside this work, Swindon Borough Council’s team will also undertake some patching work to fill any gaps that have appeared in the road’s surface. This will help to extend the life of the roundabout and help reduce further deterioration.
The work is expected to begin on Monday, 23 June and continue until Thursday, 26 June. The team will use lane closures overnight between 8pm and 6am and the work will be done in phases to mitigate the impact on traffic. These dates are subject to unforeseen circumstances including bad weather.
A spokesperson said: “We’d like to thank residents, businesses and motorists for their patience while the work takes place.”
Last month, the council improved the surface grip of Cockleberry Roundabout and Elgin Drive Roundabout.
In order to do this, specialist vehicles blast the road surface with water and steel to renew the texture of the road. The work will improve skid resistance and grip for vehicles using the roundabouts, while also increasing their lifespan.
More than £5m will be spent on the Borough’s highways and pathways this financial year. This includes pothole repairs, traffic light maintenance and new street lighting. Of the £5m, £2.75m will be spent on resurfacing major and minor roads including Great Western Way, Highworth Road and Bridge End Road.
In total, £55,000 will be spent on refreshing road markings this financial year, as part of an overall investment of more than £5m into local roads. This investment includes resurfacing work, planned maintenance, traffic light maintenance and new street lighting.
