Haydon WickParish Council has announced the winners of the Haydon WickHeroes 2021 Awards.
The parish council says the community of Haydon Wick has not disappointed with the number of nominations received this year – and has shown that the local community is full of kindness, consideration and selflessness.
The Volunteer of the Year Award was presented to Judith Cripps, for her outstanding volunteer contributions during the pandemic, accommodating all requests to assist and support those shielding during the national lock-down.
The Fabulous Fundraiser category was won by Chelle White, who has raised money for local Swindon charity ‘Doing it for Dan’ throughout the last year, running hundreds of miles to raise funds for local families and sports clubs.
Chelle said: “I love running as it’s great for both physical and just as importantly mental health, especially during lockdown.
"Luckily I was able to run most days as lockdown rules permitted. With my love of sport and the opportunity to run and raise money for a fantastic local charity, it motivates me enough to get me through the long runs. Just wish I could do more!”
The Young Achiever Award had three winners this year. Ewan Cullen, nine, Dennis Jacobi, five, and three-year-old Caitlyn Jacobi have all been hailed as environmental community super heroes because of their litter picking for the local community.
A spokesperson for the council said: “We have a wonderful, dedicated and valued group of volunteers that we are proud to work alongside of.
"We want to take the opportunity to celebrate the positives, and to recognise those who deserve a thank-you from their community."
