Refurbishment the Health Hydro on Milton Road it aimed at making it a destination for all Swindon people to enjoy once more.
When complete, improvements will include enhanced changing facilities and a new entrance and fitness suite in the former washing baths hall.
There will also be a new mechanical, electrical and plumbing plant system to service the main pool and improve the building’s environmental performance
This is just the first phase of works and completing this is seen as an important catalyst for future funding bids to restore the remainder of the Grade II* listed Hydro, including the Turkish baths, small pool hall, Dispensary and dry-side areas.
External work to repair failing roofs and sections of the stonework and windows, funded by the council, the Government’s Towns Fund and Historic England, will also be completed over the coming weeks.
