First Swindon Borough Council election result is a Tory hold

Covingham and Dorcan councillor Dale Heenan has held his seat in the first Swindon Borough Council election result to be announced.

The candidates and votes cast were: 
HEENAN, Dale James, Conservative, 1,302
HUNTER, Scott Victor Abbas, Trade Unionist and Socialist Coalition, 41
MARCH, Howard John, Green Party, 162
PULLEN, Tate, Labour Party, 1133
SALMON, Malcolm, Liberal Democrat, 178
 
Number of ballot papers rejected: 18
Ballot papers issued: 2834
Electorate: 8281
Turnout: 34.22 percent
 
Further results will be issued throughout the day as the count at Steam continues.
