In light of the Covid-19 outbreak in the country and specially, with its spread in areas within short commute from Swindon, the Holi Celebrations scheduled for today at Swindon Hindu Temple have been postponed.

In a statement Pradeep Bhardwaj, chairman of Swindon Hindu Temple and Cultural Centre, said:

The new date will be announced later after carefully considering various factors and depending on how the situation unfolds in the coming weeks. Health, safety the well-being of our volunteers, community members, attendees and patrons has always been our topmost priority and we would never compromise on that.

The committee has worked so hard for the last 6 months, meticulously planning and preparing for this event, which has now become a showcase event and one of the biggest,

in the town and the region, with over 1,000 people attending every year for last 3 years. And this year, we had planned an even bigger and better spectacle with an outdoor stage, much bigger professional/outdoor sound system, 2 professional DJs, variety of traditional Indian food stalls, Holi themed colourful T-Shirts and the new brand “Rang Barse Swindon Holi”. I pay tribute to my best team of volunteers.

We were so much looking forward to this Sunday.

And I am hopeful that you would support this decision.

We are determined to make Swindon Holi 2020 even bigger and memorable when we celebrate it on the NEW DATE to be announced, once the current situation improves.

We thank everyone for their understanding in this matter – we look forward to invite you again once we have finalised the new date and sincerely hope that you would be  able to join us.
