Homeline team has three new hybrid vehicles

A vital Swindon care service is continuing to do its bit for the environment.

As part of Swindon Borough Council's ongoing work to reduce its environmental impact, its Homeline team has taken delivery of three hybrid vehicles.

Homeline and Homeline+ are the council's home response unit, operated around the clock by a team of experienced response officers. 

Its telephone community alarm system is intended to assist elderly and vulnerable people living in the community.

Response officers are first aid trained, and there are lifting cushions and hoists in Homeline vehicles along with other equipment to assist service users. 

Crews are also are trained in the use of defibrillators, one of which is carried in each emergency response vehicles.

The Homeline team support over 4,500 Swindon residents in their own homes or sheltered housing. 

Their new hybrid vehicles are 4x4s, so the team can get to calls for assistance during adverse weather to the most rural parts of the borough. 

Homeline is available to all residents living in the borough of Swindon who need assistance living independently. 

Users have an alarm unit in their home, which is supplied with a pendant or wrist-strap alarm activator.
