A new package of support has been announced for key workers in Swindon.
David Wilson Homes’ initiative aims to provide financial assistance to a range of key workers which includes NHS and education sector workers, the police, the Fire Service, Ministry of Defence workers, Environmental Service workers council staff and foster carers.
So far, the scheme has supported more than 2,000 key workers across the UK, totalling around £34m.
Louise Ware, sales director for Barratt David Wilson Homes South West, said: “Many people may not realise that our financial support scheme is available, nor the range of key workers who are eligible.
“Around 40 percent of purchases over the last six months have been to key workers which underscores the importance of promoting our help to encourage more to take advantage of the benefits available.
"By doing so, we aim to help those who tirelessly serve others and ensure they have the opportunity to own a home in the areas they support.”
“We’re dedicated to ensure more key workers can benefit from our support and secure their dream home in their communities.”
The site manager at Orchards Rise in Swindon recently won a top national award for the quality of homes he’s building at Wichelstowe.
Clyde Cocking has scooped a Pride in the Job Award from the National House Building Council, known as the ‘Oscars’ of the housebuilding industry.
The awards recognise the very best site managers across the country, with over 8,000 being entered into the awards annually. Each is judged on a strict criteria including technical expertise, health and safety, leadership and attention to detail.
The competition is at the heart of raising standards in housebuilding, with the awards showcasing the role site managers play in ensuring much needed new homes are delivered on time, on safe sites, and to the highest quality standards.
With site managers passing on their skills to their teams and mentoring assistant site managers, the awards help to drive up quality standards across the industry.
The Wichelstowe development is being built by Barratt Homes - building at Orchards View and Wichel Fields - and David Wilson Homes, in partnership with Swindon Borough Council which will deliver 3,000 new homes over the next 20 years, along with new schools and community facilities.
The 250-hectare site on the southern edge of Swindon will include extensive open spaces, nature conservation areas, playing pitches and allotments.
As part of this neighbourhood residents can enjoy 12km of new nature trails, play areas, 200 acres of open space and walks along the Wilts and Berks canal. Homes are within a 15-minute walk of M&S and Waitrose, PureGym and The Hall and Woodhouse restaurant. There is also a range of schools for children of all ages within easy reach.
