Voters are again being reminded to bring approved photo ID when they vote in the 2 May council and Police and Crime Commissioner Elections.

A list of approved forms of ID, which include passports and driving licenses, can be found here

A Swindon Borough Council spokesperson said: "If you, or someone you know, doesn’t have suitable photo ID, a Voter Authority Certificate (VAC) can be used instead."

The application deadline for a VAC is 5pm on Wednesday 24 April for the current election, but it can be used for all future elections for 10 years, including the General Election due to be called this year.

People can apply for a VAC here.

The spokesperson added: "If you are planning to vote by proxy, which is when someone votes on your behalf, then the person you have trusted to vote for you will have to take their own photo ID in order for them to be issued with a ballot paper.

"Applications to vote by proxy must be submitted by 5pm on 24 April."

More information can be found here.

People who have applied to cast their ballot by postal vote, you should soon receive their ballot paper in the post.
