Thousands of pounds worth of illicit vapes and tobacco was seized from a Swindon store this week following a multi-agency visit.
On Wednesday (22/05), officers from Swindon Central South NPT supported by other neighbourhood officers and partners in Immigration and Trading Standards attended retail premises Zabka Polski Sklep on Manchester Road.
As a result, illicit vapes and Illicit tobacco were seized from the store and another linked premises with an estimated resale value in excess of £30,000. A vehicle was also seized.
Two people were arrested and have since bailed pending further enquiries.
A closure order has been obtained for the premises which means it can’t open for at least three months.
T/Insp Winter said: “The sale of such products brings anti-social behaviour and crime to the area, and we know that the products themselves are unchecked, often harmful materials/chemicals and if used can be a risk to the health of those using them.
“Such vapes are often used in the exploitation of children and as such we want to clamp down on this type of illicit trading.
“There is also the wider economic impact on local retailers who are working within the confines of the law.”
The operation took place as part of Clear Hold Build – a multi-agency initiative in Broadgreen aiming to tackle organised crime in the area and build a stronger community.
