Team GB Paralympic footballer Jack Rutter has praised students from Highworth Warneford school in Swindon for taking part in the AQA Unlocking Potential Programme.

The scheme encourages students to learn new skills to identify and solve problems in their school or local community.
The Year 8 students were among only 120 young people selected this year from across England, all of them nominated by their teachers to take part in the AQA Unlocking Potential scheme.
Pupils were mentored by Jack Rutter to organise and put on a social action project involving sport and music at Southfield junior school in Swindon. The event promoted the importance of mental wellbeing and confidence.
Jack said: “It has been brilliant to see the students use the skills they have been developing on the programme to deliver a superb social action project which raises vital awareness on how sport and music can help improve wellbeing. I am really proud of them!”
The event included sessions in rugby and football as well as an outdoor musical performance from a student rock band.
The students were delighted with how the event went. One of them, Charlie, said: “The Social action project was to help improve mental health and wellbeing. It was brilliant working with the children from Southfield.”
Fellow pupil Casey said: ”I really enjoyed the AQA Unlocking Potential Programme and working with Jack as he has inspired us to be the best versions of ourselves.”
Highworth Warneford School Headteacher Andy Steele said: “The event was really enjoyable and pupils from both schools had a great time.
"Our thanks must go to Jack Rutter who is an amazing mentor and role model. His amazing journey has been an inspiration to all the students.
"It has been a fantastic opportunity for them, and they have risen to the challenge and been great ambassadors for the school.”
