Man arrested following attempted kidnapping in Swindon

Swindon Police are appealing for witnesses to an attempted kidnapping on Fleming Way at around 9.30pm on 6 March.

A victim was followed by a man, who tried to talk to her about housing and invited her to his home, as she walked from Princess Street to Fleming Way.

She was grabbed by him before a bus stopped close to the Leonardo Hotel.

Lots of people were in the area at the time and several people got off a number 5 bus to assist the victim.

A police spokesperson said: "We would like these people to come forward with any relevant information as soon as possible.

"A 27-year-old from Swindon was arrested on suspicion of attempted kidnap and committing an offence with the intention of committing a relevant sexual offence.

"He has been released on conditional bail and our investigation is ongoing.
