A woman has been thanked for her courage and public-spiritedness by Wiltshire Police Chief Constable Catherine Roper.

Krystal Fishlock helped a teenager who had been the victim of an attempted abduction.

She was awarded a Chief Constable’s Certificate of Recognition for Members of the Public, in honour of her invaluable assistance to Wiltshire Police.

On March 6, 2025, while going about her daily business in Swindon's town centre, Krystal heard a distressed woman screaming for help. She saw a man fleeing the scene and a young woman visibly shaken on the ground.

Without hesitation, Krystal intervened. Upon learning that the victim did not know the man, she selflessly offered to take the young woman to safety.

Demonstrating what the police termed exceptional courage and presence of mind, Krystal then pursued the suspect on foot, photographing him and later providing police with a detailed statement.

Unbeknownst to her at the time, the man had just attempted to abduct a teenage girl, grabbing her and trying to carry her away. Thanks to Krystal’s swift and brave actions, the offender was identified, arrested, and remanded in custody.

Her decisive intervention not only helped secure justice but also, the police said, likely prevented further harm to others.
