The Swindon Ganesh Utsav returned in a vibrant celebration of culture and unity.

Now in its seventh year, the event has fulfilled its promise to be even more spectacular, bringing together people of all backgrounds to celebrate the beloved Hindu deity Bhagwan Ganesha.

It serves as a bridge between the Indian diaspora and the local community, fostering mutual understanding and appreciation for the diverse beliefs and culture.

Bhagwan Ganesha is worshipped as the God of wisdom and is seen as a remover of obstacles, and is honoured at the start of every ritual and ceremony as he's considered the God of new beginnings.

Ashish Channawar, convenor of Swindon Mitra Mandal and the organizer of the Swindon Ganesh Utsav, said: "We are thrilled to bring the Swindon Ganesh Utsav back to our wonderful community. This event is a testament to the unity and diversity that makes Swindon so special. It's a celebration of culture, spirituality, and the bonds that connect us all."

The organisers have been delighted to invite everyone to the Swindon Ganesh Utsav 2023 titled as 'Swindon Cha Raja' at Swindon Hindu Temple, right across the Swindon Central Library.

Pradeep Bhardwaj, Chairman of Swindon Hindu Temple Trust, said before the celebration began: "This year, we aim to create an even more immersive experience, where attendees can not only revel in the festivities but also gain a deeper understanding of the cultural significance of Lord Ganesha.

"We look forward to uniting with our friends and neighbors, both old and new, in the spirit of harmony, love, and togetherness."

The centerpiece of the celebration, a colorful and lively procession featuring a beautifully adorned idol of Bhagwan Ganesha, wound its way through the streets of Swindon, led by the renowned Dhol Beats UK Team with Indian Dhol and Tasha.

The final gathering of this year's celebration is today - 19 September - at the Temple from 5.30pm onwards.
