Further progress in providing community benefits to Malmesbury are underway after Persimmon Homes installed a footbridge connecting the town to their Backbridge Farm site.
The footbridge – which came as part of the 200-unit development of high quality two to five-bed homes that also includes a village green, pocket parks, play areas, and attenuation ponds – will provide a direct walking and cycling connection route across the River Avon.
The five-star builder prides itself on its homes being priced 25 per cent below the national average, opening the opportunity of homeownership to thousands of families every year who might otherwise not be able to afford it.
Persimmon employs over 5,000 people directly and supports over 80,000 jobs in the supply chain, and its long-established Community Champions programme sees over £700,000 spent on good causes across Britain each year.
This has seen financial contributions made to Malmesbury town carnival and HEALS of Malmesbury Big Give Christmas Challenge Campaign, which raises funds for disadvantaged families.
Commenting, Managing Director of Persimmon Homes Wessex Julian Roper said:
“As Persimmon Homes Wessex continues to lead the way in creating sustainable, inclusive neighbourhoods, the installation of the footbridge marks another step in marrying our high quality homes with first-class facilities.
“It is a testament to our commitment to fostering connectivity, promoting well-being, and contributing positively to the local landscape and enhancing the fabric of the communities we serve.
“The footbridge will be a vital connection point for residents and visitors alike, with its design offering a convenient walking and cycling route as well as an active and healthy lifestyle option, reducing the reliance on vehicular transport.
“This comprehensive approach to community-building ensures that the needs and desires of Malmesbury residents are at the forefront of the development process.”
