Man left with serious injury following Royal Wootton Bassett disorder

A man was taken to hospital following what the police describe as a disorder in Royal Wootton Bassett at the weekend.

Officers were called to reports of a disorder in the High Street shortly before midnight on Saturday 17 August(17/08).

During an altercation between two groups of people, two men were assaulted.

A man in his 40s was taken to hospital to be treated for injuries which are serious but not thought to be life threatening.

A 37-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing Grievous Bodily Harm with intent and Actual Bodily Harm.

He was taken to Gablecross custody for questioning and has since been released on bail while enquiries continue.

Sgt James Osment said: “Violence of this nature will not be tolerated in our town’s and our officers were quick to attend this incident and make an arrest. Enquiries in relation to this are ongoing and we’d urge any witnesses to get in touch.”
