Swindon Police are investigating the death of a man in Swindon's Manchester Road in the early hours of this morning - 2 July.
At around 5.10am, officers received a report that a man, believed to be in his twenties, was seriously injured outside a property.
He was taken to hospital for urgent treatment but died, and officers are working to identify his next of kin.
A cordon has been set up in Manchester Road which has been fully closed for the foreseeable future while enquiries are carried out.
Detective Chief Inspector Phil Walker said: “This is a serious incident which has sadly resulted in a man losing his life.
“An investigation is ongoing and we are keeping an open mind as to the circumstances that led to this man’s death.
“We are asking members of the public to help by sharing any information they may have in relation to this. We would especially like to hear from a male, who was on an electric bike, who initially approached officers to make them aware of the incident but then left the scene without leaving his details.
“We appreciate the concern the public will have, given the recent terrorism arrest in the area, however it’s important to stress that there is no information to suggest that this incident is linked.”
Officers are urging anyone who may have witnessed what happened or who has any information about the circumstances surrounding the incident to get in touch.
They are particularly keen to hear from anyone who may have dash cam or CCTV footage taken overnight.
The police can contact on 101, quoting log 47 of 2 July, and people can also leave information anonymously by calling Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
In an emergency, people should always call 999.
