Man charged in connection with serious Swindon assault

A man has been charged in connection with a serious assault in Swindon's town centre on 29 January.

Matthew McKechnie, 39, of no fixed abode, has been charged with grievous bodily harm with intent.

He appeared in Swindon Magistrates’ Court on 7 February and was bailed to appear at Swindon Crown Court on 7 March for a plea hearing.

The charge is in connection with an incident in the Parade, Swindon, at around 1.25pm, when the victim, a man in his 60s, suffered a serious leg/ankle injury.
