Swindon Forest Meadows is appealing for people to come forward and become involved in its vital work.
The project, a partnership between Wiltshire Wildlife Trust and Swindon Borough Council, is devoted to looking after Swindon's many and varied wildlife habitats.
Running since 2020, the project focuses on creating, restoring and managing those habitats, and its work includes reintroducing wildflowers and traditional meadow management.
Recently, volunteers have:
- Cleared woodland and created dead hedges at the Lagoons and Rivermead Flood Storage area in Westlea, pictured
- Clanted trees at Lydiard Park and Shaw Forest Park
- Planted fruit trees at Westcott Tree Nursery and Community Forest Garden
Current volunteering opportunities include becoming a tree warden, helping to care for local trees, checking their condition and reporting any damage.
