Fundamentals Ltd welcomed South Swindon MP Heidi Alexander for a visit to its Hillmead Enterprise Park headquarters.
The firm are experts in the high-tech field of intelligent grid voltage control, and the MP met with company leaders and toured the facility to see first-hand the organisation's contributions to the local economy and the UK’s energy transition.
Fundamentals, which was founded in Oxford more than 30 years ago, and has operated in its Swindon HQ since 2012, employs more than 50 local people in technical and engineering roles, including design engineers, software engineers, and panel wiremen, as well as teams in finance, marketing and sales.
The business has grown by more than 400 percent since moving to Swindon, expanding its workforce and investing in research and development (R&D) to drive innovation in voltage control technology.
During the visit, Ms Alexander discussed key topics with Fundamentals’ CEO Dr Jon Hiscock and Managing Director Vincent Thornley, including the company’s commitment to investing in local skills and providing highly skilled jobs in the area.
They also discussed Fundamentals’ focus on R&D to support the UK’s transition to a lower-carbon economy. Ms Alexander toured the company’s factory and R&D facility to see the latest innovations in voltage control technology being developed and manufactured in Swindon.

Fundamental’s trade association BEAMA joined the visit. BEAMA has been leading a program of engagement with the new Government and UK manufacturers to drive greater recognition for the vital contribution the sector makes to the UK economy and crucially energy security.
