Wiltshire’s biggest private hospital, The Ridgeway, has secured over £1 million to upgrade their facilities.
The investment programme comes following the purchase of the hospital last January by Circle Health Group, which is investing £100m in its UK facilities this year alone.
The Ridgeway Hospital, based in Wroughton and close to the M4, says it is responding to an increase in demand for its services in the region, as enquiries for treatment are at an all-time-high.
The work started in August and the first phase, a complete upgrade of the Endoscopy suite, is now complete.
The whole department has undergone a makeover totally transforming the area to offer a calm, modern and welcoming environment. The Endoscopy procedure room has been redesigned and fully refurbished. The individual patient rooms have been fully decorated to include new ensuite bathrooms with a walk-in shower, with privacy and dignity for patients at the forefront of its design.
The suite undertakes gastro-intestinal (GI) and urology endoscopy, including procedures such as colonoscopy, flexible sigmoidoscopies, gastroscopy, polypectomy, and flexible cystoscopy.
When asked what the investment in the hospital’s endoscopy facilities would mean for patients, Mr Anwar Owais, a Consultant Colorectal and General Surgeon practicing at The Ridgeway Hospital, said: “I am delighted that our endoscopy department at the hospital has been upgraded.
"This recognises our commitment to excellence in patient care, starting from the moment they step into the hospital and continues until they leave. The next step will be for all the staff to work together to achieve JAG accreditation.
“We always aim to provide patients with the highest standards of care comparable with the best endoscopy suites in the world.”
The hospital is also investing in a new surgical ambulatory suite for patients having day case surgery, such as cataract and hernia operations. This is due to be completed early in the new year.
Kate Liddington, Executive Director of The Ridgeway Hospital, said: “The investment programme taking place at The Ridgeway is a very exciting development for the hospital and patients in the Swindon area. All our staff have worked extremely hard to deliver these redevelopment projects.
"The investment comes at a crucial time with hospital services experiencing an increased demand. The renovations mean that we can provide patients with more modern facilities in which to have their surgery and endoscopy.”
