Cinema chain Cineworld has confirmed a plan which could see Swindon's Regent Circus development left almost empty.
According to Cineworld, the sites have become commercially unviable and closure is set for late September.
The company itself, like much of the industry, has seen revenues hit by both the increasing dominance of streaming services and the legacy of the covid pandemic.
If the Regent Circus closure goes ahead, the flagship development, which was opened in late 2014, will be left with just two businesses - Nando's and Boom Battle Bar.
The supermarket premises which once housed a branch of Morrisons have stood empty since the autumn of 2019, and various other tenants have come and gone.
