Representatives from the Nepalese Association of Wiltshire have joined forces with Citizens Advice Swindon to hold information events to help support senior citizens in the town.
An information meeting was organised by the Nepalese Association of Wiltshire, and held at the Buckhurst Community Centre last week.
The event was said to have covered a range of different topics, and provide information to help support senior citizens within Swindon. Extra measures were taken to ensure that individuals who need help breaching the language barrier, were accomodated for.
Citizen Advice Swindon were on hand to provide information on service concessions for senior citizens, and offered advice regarding financial and material support that can be provided by local authorities.
Citizens Advice also provided information around pensions and other benefits that senior individuals may be eligible to apply for.
Information around Cancer Research UK's charity support and Dementia UK's charity support was also given.
President Gyan Prasad Gurung of the Nepalese Association of Wiltshire has also confirmed that an information meeting will be held on the last Friday of every month, starting next year in January.
Mr Gurung added: "Senior citizens living in Swindon, and members of the Nepali community, will be able to attend this information service event each month to get any extra support they may require."
The monthly meetings will continue to take place at the Buckhurst Community Centre.
