A group of volunteers from the Nepalese Association of Wiltshire have helped to make Christmas brighter for some with meal and gift donations.

To help celebrate the festive period and give back to the community, a group of members of the Nepalese Association of Wiltshire have donated dinners as well as gifts, to homeless people living in and around the Swindon area.

The charity gala event took place on Christmas Eve, with this year marking the second time this charity programme has been run by the Nepalese Association community.

Chairman of the community, Mr Gyan Prasad Gurung lead the event with the assistance of Community Secretary Mr Bhawani Prasad Gurung, and executive members and coordinators, Mrs Tiju Gurung and Ranjan Malla.

Also lending a hand at this event were community members Minu Gurung and Uma Gurung.

Gyan Prasad Gurung said: "It is important to think of those less fortunate at this time of year, and we hope that news of our Christmas gala event spreads awareness."

This Christmas charity event was sponsored by the local businessmen Mr Sushil Poudel, the proprietor of Swindon's MOMO King Nepali restaurant and Mr Arjun Gurung, the proprietor of Swindon's Yak the Himalayan Kitchen and Diwali restaurant.
