Newport Street in Old Town is currently closed due to a burst pipe and a diversion route is in place.
It is expected to reopen by noon tomorrow - Saturday 24 November.
A Swindon Borough Council spokesperson said: "We're liaising with Thames Water to get the road back open as quickly as possible.
"Motorists are advised to avoid the area if they can while the water company repairs the road surface.
"Access has been maintained for local residents and businesses."
