Dedicated healthcare staff from the Swindon area are among workers across the South West honoured in the 2023 Parliamentary Awards after being nominated by their MPs.
Winners have been chosen in nine categories, with each now also going forward to the national awards in London on 5 July – the NHS’s 75th birthday.
The ceremony will be held at the Queen Elizabeth II Centre in Westminster.
Elizabeth O’Mahony, Regional Director of NHS England in the South West region, said: “I’m delighted to see our dedicated staff and volunteers across the South West recognised in this way.
“Their tireless commitment and outstanding care are heart-warming, especially given the day-to-day challenges that we know the NHS faces.
“I’d like to congratulate every single one of the winners, and to thank all the MPs and all the amazing nominees – I’m only sorry we couldn’t give out more awards.”
The Swindon people and teams among the 2023 regional winners, selected by NHS leaders across the region, are:
- The Excellence in Urgent and Emergency Care Award. Swindon Integrated Care Alliance Coordination Centre Team, Great Western Hospitals, nominated by Sir Robert Buckland MP
- The Nursing and Midwifery Award. Bev Breen, Consultant Nurse, Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, nominated by Sir Robert Buckland MP and Justin Tomlinson MP
- The Lifetime Achievement Award. Toni Starr, Retired Neonatal Nurse, Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, nominated by Sir Robert Buckland MP.
