Detectives are investigating a report of a suspected drink spiking incident in the Old Town area of Swindon.

The incident occurred during Saturday evening - 6 August.

A 19-year-old girl had fallen unwell following a night out with a small group of friends.

Det Sgt Scott Anger said: “We take reports of suspected drink spiking seriously. People should be able to feel safe when going for a night out and we have dedicated night-time patrols in response to public concerns. Detectives are leading the investigation into this matter.

"We continue to work with our partner agencies and venues and have operations such as Project Vigilant as part of our preventative approach to tackling this type of offence.”

At this stage of the force's investigation, there is said to be nothing to suggest this incident was caused by an injection spiking.
