Businesses in Swindon’s Old Town have pledged to not be defeated by Covid19 and are taking Christmas online and producing a festive TV special on Sunday November 29.
Old Town’s independent businesses have always been well known for their upbeat and positive Christmas Lights Switch On event, yet like many organisations had to shelve the physical event this year.
Undeterred they are producing a one hour Old Town Christmas TV Show special on Facebook hosted by the organiser of the Christmas Lights Switch On event Evie Em-Jay and business owner of the Core Kris Talikowski.
The show’s headline act will be Fayth Ifil who was Simon Cowell’s Golden Buzzer Act in this year’s Britain’s Got Talent. Fayth will be talking about her experience and giving an exclusive live performance. She will be accompanied by her family including her father, ex Swindon Town footballer Jerel Ifil.
Other stars have prepared Christmas messages including that famous Swindonian Nick Hewer from The Apprentice and Countdown. Musical acts include Elicia Rosaria and Billie & Louie who are performing fresh from their appearance on TV show ‘Little Mix : The Search’.
Evie Em-Jay, said: “Being online this year means we can include more children's content so for the first time we will have an awesome entertainer Fred the Shed and we will be doing an exciting story-telling feature with the Old Town Library.”
Kris Talikowski, vice-chair of the Old Town Business Association added: “We want to remind people about the magic of Old Town at Christmas and also about how vital shopping and supporting businesses locally is. Through this challenging year Old Town has stepped up, embraced new ways of talking to their customers and it’s never been a more important time to put your pound into your local economy.”
The studio element will be filmed at new venue ‘No.4’ - a new content creation studio and event space above The Core juice bar. The event will be going live between 4pm and 5pm on 29th November 2020. you can find the event here https://www.facebook.com/events/1765808310249598
