The UK’s leading open-air cinema returns to Lydiard Park this weekend with Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again!

With the backdrop of the historic house, set in 260 acres of parkland, Lydiard makes the perfect setting for cinema under the stars.

The Luna Cinema presents ‘Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again’ this coming Saturday (10 August). Set after the events of the first film, and also featuring flashbacks to 1979, the feel-good film tells the story of Donna Sheridan's arrival on the island of Kalokairi and her first meetings with her daughter Sophie's three possible fathers. All set to the iconic music of ABBA.

The following night (11 August) worldwide musical hit ‘The Greatest Showman’ will light up the huge screen. Described as a musical masterpiece with an all-star cast, ‘The Greatest Showman’ is one of cinema’s most successful live-action musicals, inspired by the story of P. T. Barnum's ‘Barnum & Bailey Circus’ and the lives of its star attractions.

George Wood, founder of The Luna Cinema, said: “We are hugely excited to be announcing our 2019 season, our biggest year of open-air cinema yet. With the incredible number of great films released in the last 12 months, it’s shaping up to be a really special one.”

Councillor Keith Williams, Swindon Borough Council’s Cabinet Member responsible for Lydiard Park, said: “Just like the excellent open-air theatre shows we have recently staged at Lydiard Park, outdoor cinema has become a much-loved part of our summer events programme.

“The historic house will provide a stunning backdrop for both movies and I would encourage anyone who has never experienced cinema under the stars to come along with family and friends to enjoy two great nights of entertainment.”

There are still some tickets available for both performances. Tickets for each cinema screening cost £15.50. Disabled and carer general admission is priced at £7.75, while child admission (for children aged three to 15) is priced at £10.50.

A slightly reduced admission price of £14.50 is available for people attending in groups of 10 or more. There is also a Premium admission ticket costing £28 which includes seating in a Luna director’s chair in prime position within the screening, a complimentary drink at the Luna bar and fast track queuing to the Luna bar.

Doors open at 7.15pm each night, and screenings will begin at 8.45pm. Guests are invited to take advantage of the full bar and gourmet street food available on site, or bring a picnic.

Capacities are limited and all tickets must be booked in advance.
