Coverings must also be worn in other enclosed public spaces such as banks, takeaways and stations.

Venues across Swindon are gearing up for the change.

At the McArthurGlen Designer Outlet, face coverings have been mandatory in shops and strongly recommended in the centre in general since reopening last month.

A spokesperson said: “The health and safety of our customers is of the utmost importance to us."

The website of inSwindon BID, the organisation devoted to promoting and enhancing the town centre, has highlighted the changes on its social media presence, and its website - https://www.swindontowncentre.co.uk/ - carries links to the latest Government guidance.

The Brunel Centre's website - devotes a section - https://www.thebrunel.co.uk/covid-19-updates/ - to advice for customers.
