Swindon Police Officers have been carrying out patrols around the Designer Outlet Village as part of Project Vigilant.

The operation targets sexual predators in the aim of intervening before they have the opportunity to offend and includes the night-time economy and also during the daytime.

Wiltshire Police are urging people to report when something does not feel right to help gather intelligence on those who pose a risk of causing sexual harm in our communities.

PC Lau said: “Predators can operate anywhere in a public space where there is an opportunity to offend, at any time during the day or night – they do not just hunt under the cover of darkness or in isolated locations.

"People know that they should call the police if they are physically attacked but sexual harassment and offences where no actual touching occurs are not okay, they cause real fear and trauma to victims and so the perpetrators need to come to police attention.

"Please be aware of your surroundings, look out for your friends and colleagues and if you witness or experience inappropriate sexualised behaviour please contact the police immediately. If the matter is not urgent but you want to report a suspicious individual who may be acting in a predatory manner, then there are numerous ways you can report this to the police.”

You can contact Swindon Police through their website: https://orlo.uk/dOKPg and mark it Vigilant Communities.

You can also report an incident by calling 101, or 999 in an emergency.
