Mayor of Swindon, Cllr Abdul Amin has been handed a cheque for £1,280 following the Mixed Martial Arts Raged UK event that took place at Meca.

The martial arts event took place back in September, with aims of fundraising for the Mayor's chosen charities - STEP Swindon and the Zam Zam Trust.

Mr Sadik Ali, owner of the Khyber restaurant Swindon, and Mr Gary Turland, promoter of ‘Raged UK MMA’ met with the Mayor to officially hand over the cheque at the civic offices, off Euclid Street.

During the event, volunteers from STEP charity collected donations with the support from Mr Turland, and Mr Ali of the Khyber restaurant.

The local restaurant directly donated £1000 to support the cause. With this contribution, the total amount raised was £1280.

STEP Swindon are an organisation that help young people around the town through therapeutic groups and activities.

The Zam Zam Trust are charitable trust seeking to alleviate poverty in Bangladesh.
