Wroughton residents and the Renew community shed project in Penhill will be featured in new BBC1 series The Repair Shop on the Road.
Master carpenter Will steps in to help Renew’s‘ shedders’ restore a Barracuda wooden aircraft seat for Wroughton Parish Council, so it can be returned to its original home in Wroughton’s Willow-Brook Gardens.
Renew's Shed Manager Kevin Prosser said: “We love renewing, repairing and re-using materials that would otherwise go to landfill, and we’re privileged to able to help save the seat.
"It’s a lot bigger project than we would normally take on but with the help of Will’s expertise, we were able to complete the task and learnt a lot of new skills along the way!”
Amanda Woodhead, Community Projects Officer at Wroughton Parish Council, said: “We’re delighted to have a full set of replica planes back in Willow-Brook Gardens at the centre of our community.
"It was fabulous to work with the BBC and our new friends at Renew Swindon. Our friends in the Royal British Legion, Ian and Jane Woodford, spend time every year varnishing our three other military benches, but this one was falling apart.
"RAF Wroughton played a significant part in World War Two and our wooden aircraft benches are part of that legacy.
"We will all be tuning in on Tuesday afternoon to celebrate the renovations and see which local residents we can spot.”
