Work to improve the surface of two roads in North Swindon will be carried out next week.
Tadpole Lane will be closed for four nights from next Tuesday (25 June) between the Oakhurst Way roundabout and the Swindon and Cricklade Railway to allow Swindon Borough Council’s contractors to replace the deteriorating road surface, increasing the life span of the carriageway.
The road will be closed from 6pm to allow the work to take place and diversions will be in place. Access will be maintained for local residents and emergency services.
Once work has been completed for the night on Tadpole Lane, the council’s contractor will then lift the closure and the traffic management on to Thamesdown Drive, so that similar repairs can be made to the north-eastbound carriageway between the Taw Hill and Redhouse Way junctions.
The work will be carried out under a road closure and highways workers will also repaint road markings and clear gullies and drains as part of the work. Thamesdown Drive will then be reopened to all traffic at 6am.
Diversion signs will be in place throughout. The work forms part of the council’s annual major roads maintenance programme.
