Over 200 rock choir members from Swindon have performed a concert at MECA Swindon, raising money for the NSPCC.
The group sold out all tickets at the MECA and raised £1,650 for the NSPCC.
They were led by their Rock Choir Leader Kate Benson through an uplifting and joyous set of smash hit pop and rock songs, which had the audience on their feet, dancing and singing along.
Kate Benson said: “The choir were sensational! The evening a total success! I wanted to create a night of pure joy and euphoria and unite the entire room in a magical and memorable feel good experience that would keep everyone who attended and took part smiling for days – and we achieved it!
“The atmosphere was electric thanks in part to the incredible talents of our guitarists, Jamie and Darren Hunt. The power of music never fails to amaze me.
“The beats, the melodies the harmonies – impossible to resist and most importantly it moved people to dig deep and give generously to our nominated charity, The NSPCC. It’s no small thing to create an evening that gives so much to so many but a big Rock Choir show always delivers.”
Kate has led the rock choir for seven years and this was her final big show with the rock choir members as she is relocating. Sarah Hollick is excited to be the Swindon Rockies new Leader from September.
The community fundraiser manager for the NSPCC said: “Our NSPCC family thoroughly enjoyed the show on Saturday evening. We are full of admiration for Kate and the Swindon Rock Choir for putting on a spectacular evening full of energy and positivity.
“The community of Swindon means so much to us and to see such kindness and good will at the event was truly heart-warming. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you.”
