Swindon Bridgemead Sainsbury's Cafe is to close along with the rest of the supermarket giant's cafes in the UK.
The move is described by the company as the continuation of a major overhaul. It is the final stage of a rollback on their cafes which started in 2022.
By closing its remaining 61 cafes, and its patisseries and pizza counters, Sainsbury's is cutting 3,000 jobs. The company says that the majority of their loyal customers did not use the company-run Sainsbury's cafes, and instead preferred their third-party cafes such as Costa Coffee and those run by Boparan Group. It is part of their plan to cut costs.
However, the firm says some of the most popular items will be available to buy on the shelves.
