This week, Swindon Borough Council are introducing digital parking permits for Swindon residents.

This means that moving forward, if individuals apply for a new parking permit, they will not receive a paper permit , and will not need to display a physical permit in their cars.

Instead, once a resident has applied, their digital permit details will be visible to the council's Civil Enforcement Officers via their handheld devices.

Those looking to renew a paper parking permit, will now need to register for a new digital permit instead and then renew their digital permit in the future when they need to.

A spokesperson for the council said: "By making these changes, we hope to make the process smoother and simpler, and save plenty of paper too."

More information about the changes can be found on the council's website at http://ow.ly/5zpi50KeGbe.
