Swindon Borough Council has partnered with group buying specialists iChoosr to repeat the Solar Together scheme.

Wiltshire resident Yat had solar panels installed through Solar Together
This is the fourth year of the scheme, which has seen more than 600 residents participate since 2022, and which is once more also be run in partnership with Wiltshire Council.
Registration is open until Friday 8 August, and Councillor Emma Bushell, Swindon Borough Council Deputy Leader and Ambassador for a Greener Swindon, said: “I’m excited we can now announce a fourth round of the Solar Together scheme, providing homeowners with another chance to install high-quality solar panels and batteries at competitive market prices.
"Given the fluctuating energy costs we’ve experienced over the past few years, now is an ideal moment to consider whether investing in renewable energy makes sense for you.
“Last year’s Solar Together scheme locked in a 39 per cent discount on the typical market price, with another 165 Swindon households joining hundreds of others that have previously had solar panels installed through this scheme.
“Our Swindon Plan mission to build a greener Swindon is about working with communities to find new ways of doing things that help, not hinder, the natural environment. This scheme empowers our residents to actively participate in the transition away from fossil fuels. Residents can visit the Solar Together website from 02 June to find out more.”
The council says the Solar Together scheme empowers people to invest in renewable energy through a trusted, cost-effective scheme designed to cut energy bills and reduce carbon footprints.
By using the collective power of group buying, Solar Together secures competitive prices on solar panel systems and installation from pre-approved providers. By joining together, households can access significantly better deals than they would typically find on their own.
The scheme offers Solar Photovoltaic (PV) panels, with optional battery storage and Electric Vehicle (EV) charging points. It also provides battery storage solutions for residents who already have solar panels and want to maximise their use of self-generated electricity, helping them become less reliant on the grid and more energy independent.
There is no obligation to go ahead with purchasing solar panels once residents register their interest. They will receive a detailed and easy to understand personal recommendation which they can choose whether to accept or not.
To register for the scheme, residents must either own their own house or have permission from the landlord to install solar panels. Small and medium-sized enterprises, non-domestic and Commonhold Associations meeting this requirement can also participate.
For more information including likely costs and the amount of energy people can expect to generate, people can visit the Solar Together website.
