Enchanged Gardens Light Trail
By the time this edition of the Link Magazine hits your letterbox, the Enchanted Garden Light Trail will be in full swing with many Parishioners, Swindonians and visitors to our parish enjoying a spectacular interactive light show in the historic Town Gardens.
We are very excited about organising such a prestigious and spectacular family event in the heart of Swindon, which we hope will bring much needed Christmas cheer and joy in the wake of a lost year to the pandemic.
South Swindon Parish Council have chosen Brighter Futures as the charity beneficiary for this magical event. Brighter Futures raise funds to improve the Great Western Hospital environment, fund ground-breaking research, support the development and training of hospital staff and provide state-of-the-art equipment to benefit all those in the town. (www.brighterfuturesgwh.nhs.uk)
Tickets for the trail cost £5.50 for children (aged 5-17 years) and £10.50 for adults with £1 from every ticket sold will be donated to the charity.
Under 4’s and carers/assistants may attend free of charge with a paying ticket holder.
A shuttle bus service from Nationwide will be available to book on the ticketing web page, www.skiddle.com (search for “enchanted gardens”).
Grounds Maintenance
The Parish completed its first summer/autumn grass cutting season with directly employed staff after groundworkers and street cleaning employees transferred from Swindon Borough Council in November 2020.
With the latest equipment and a cutting-edge depot facility our parish staff have embraced this new opportunity and delivered a service that is second to none.
We would like to extend our thanks to all the team for their excellent work and flexibility that has allowed the Parish to deliver much more than a standard service.
Wishing you a Happy Christmas and New Year
Cllr Chris Watts
Chair, South Swindon Parish Council
