South Swindon Parish Council Gardeners have planted a new circle of Euonymous Jean Hugues Trees around the WW1 memorial in GWR Park.
The WW1 memorial was installed in 2018 and the parish council say each part of it tells a story.
The cross within the memorial is said to represent the medics - both on the frontline, and also those that were in supporting roles at home.
The horse is then representative of the local yeoman or cavalry and horses, that pulled the cannons into war. Local engineers working in the railway industry are then represented by the wheel element of the memorial.
Lastly, the rifle within the sculpture is said to represent the overall theme of warfare, and the parish hopes it will remind those looking at it, that many Swindon soldiers joined the infantry.
