Changes to Swindon Stagecoach bus services

Bus firm Stagecoach has announced changes to its Swindon services.

They include the ending of the number nine service between Regent Circus and Wroughton on Sundays.

Stagecoach West said in a statement that, following the announcement that Swindon's Bus Company would no longer run the 16 service from Sunday, 4 September, Stagecoach had altered an existing route and introduced a new one to service customers in this area.

The number nine service will now be split into two routes, one of which will be the number nine from the town centre to Wroughton.

This will remain the same between Regent Circus and Wroughton, and buses will run every 30 minutes every day except Sundays.

Due to what the firm terms poor usage, this service will no longer run on Sundays - although the 49 will continue to run every two hours as an alternative.

The other route will be a new number four service from the town centre to Tadpole Garden Village.

This will replace the previous service nine from the Town Centre to Tadpole Garden Village, running every 20 minutes Monday to Saturday. 

This route will no longer run via Gorse Hill or Cricklade Road but will instead run via Great Western Outlet, Cheney Manor industrial estate, Woodhall, Haydon Wick, Orbital Retail Park and Abbey Meads before continuing to St Andrews Ridge and Tadpole Garden Village. 

Stagecoach West Managing Director Rachel Geliamassi said: “We’re delighted to be able to offer customers in the areas affected by the withdrawal of Swindon Bus Company’s 16 service an alternative means of travel.  

"We look forward to getting to know these new customers and to welcoming them on board from 4 September.”
