A woman has been jailed for stabbing a teenaged boy with a champagne glass during an unprovoked attack at a house party in Swindon.

Drew Stanton-Foreman, 21, of Redhouse Way, was sentenced to two years and eight months in custody by Swindon Crown Court for inflicting grievous bodily harm with intent to the 17-year-old.

The stabbing happened during a belated birthday party at a house in Ferndale Road on 4 June 2023.

Stanton-Foreman, who had been drinking heavily  throughout the night, entered the kitchen at around 12.40am, reached for a champagne glass, smashed it on the kitchen side and stabbed the victim in the neck.

Several people were in the kitchen and had been talking about football prior to the stabbing, which was completely unprovoked.

The victim suffered a large wound to his neck which could very nearly have been fatal.

Following the violent attack, Stanton-Foreman turned to the others in the room and questioned whether they wanted to be stabbed too.

In a statement read to the court, the victim said: "I still can’t understand why this has happened or the reason for it.

"I've seen my mum worry about me more and I've had to see her be strong for me, especially knowing there was a prospect I could have died.

"She doesn't want to not let me go out and enjoy my life but now she worries about what phone call she will get next or if there will be a police officer knocking on the door to say I've been killed."

Complex Crime Investigator Catherine Baird said: "Stanton-Foreman took no accountability for her actions, putting forward a guilty plea to a section 20 GBH, which is causing serious harm without intent.

"She claimed she must have been spiked. However, toxicology reports did not support this; she was just very drunk.

"Psychiatric reports were conducted and there was no evidence to suggest that any mental disorder was linked to the commission of the offence. Due to this, Stanton-Foreman finally changed her plea to guilty.

"The victim must now live with a visible scar and lasting nerve damage as a constant reminder of Stanton-Foreman's horrific actions."
