The wall of a Regent Circus building was blown in by Storm Eunice earlier this afternoon.

Police officers, firefighters and council officials cordoned off a large area around the Trident Fish Bar and Kebab, and members of the public were warned to stay away.

The damaged part of the building, which is next door to the Kyber Indian restaurant, was a wall toward the top, and an attic space was exposed to the elements.

Elsewhere in the town centre, Havelock Square was also cordoned off, seemingly amid fears that parts of nearby structures might have been loosened by the high winds.

The adjacent Iceland store, like several other town centre businesses, was closed, although the town centre was far from deserted as many people shopped and strolled as normal.
